Sumario:Objective: reflect on the health of the Brazilian black population in the context of chronic diseases and its relationship with public policies. Method: theoretical-reflective study based on national and international scientific literature, as well as the authors' perception and critical analysis. Results: three categories were presented: social indicators on the chronicity of diseases in the black population; health indicators of the black population in the face of chronic diseases; and public policies for the health of the black population in the chronicity of diseases.
