| Sumario: | This article aims to reflect on the access of black and brown students who entered the Federal University of Maranhão - FUMA through the Affirmative Action Policy, seeking to understand the impact of the implementation of Law 12,711 based on the filling of vacancies offered for undergraduate courses and the role of the Heteroidentification Commission. The research is exploratory-descriptive and was based on the work of authors such as Gomes (2003), Grosfoguel (2006), Nunes (2018), Osório (2004), Pinto and Clemente (2005), Quijano (2007), Siss (2003), Walsh (2007) and in institutional regulations and reports from the Integrated Academic Activities Management System. Affirmative action policies provided access to superior education for historically excluded groups, highlighting impacts on the democratization of access, allowing progress and setbacks in access to be seen throughout the implementation of the accounts system at FUMA. |
