Resumo:The article presented here converges its look at the analysis of teaching practices in order to bring about reflections on the importance of play as a contributor to the learning process, especially at the Lourdes Maria de Lima Municipal School in the city of Jauru, in the early years of the Elementary School. The article aims to identify the teachers’s level of knowledge in relation to the ludic, and its contributions to the development of pedagogical practices. The methodology used was based on a case study with a qualitative approach, and the main instrument used for data collection was an electronic questionnaire made available through Google Forms. Theoretically, the article had as input: Freire (1996), Kishimoto (2006), Tardif (2003) and Vygotsky (2001) among others. The results indicate that the teachers participating in this research understand play as a contributing strategy in the teaching and learning process, as well as perceiving the implementation and maintenance of this strategy.
