Descripción
Sumario:This report presents a comprehensive overview of the illegal trafficking of Ecuadorian migrants destined for the United States. It includes the departure points and routes used by smugglers to transport migrants from the Ecuadorian coast to various ports in Central America, primarily Guatemala, from where they continue overland to Mexico. The report outlines Guatemalan regulations on this matter and analyzes Mexican legislation applicable to irregular migrants, given that Ecuador, after the Central American countries, has the highest number of deportations from Mexico. Within this context, the report examines the control functions and prevention efforts of the Ecuadorian Navy in its territorial waters. Finally, it provides statistics on vessels seized by the Navy and Ecuadorian migrants deported from Mexico and Guatemala.
