Sumario:In occasion of the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the study of communication at the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes, the reflection of the sociocultural regionalization, at least in its conceptualization, is returned, which seems to have been abandoned in this field of study. The dimensions of the “regional” scale: the local and the global are recovered based on two promising research approaches, which were proposed twenty years ago. It is suggested that they be discussed in relation to recent research efforts due to the need for theoretical and political debate.
